Kariokor Adult Center

Welcome to Kariokor!

The Kariokor Adult Center in Nairobi, Kenya, is home to around 10 girls at a time who have been rescued from child bride marriages and other abuse. The girls range in age from 13- to 18-years-old. The Center is overseen by Mrs. Angelica Okyweya Nandwa and her family.

At Kariokor, each girl’s welfare, dignity, and future is taken into highest consideration. It is Mrs. Angelica’s goal to provide food, shelter, clothing, childcare, and an education to each young lady in her care.

In addition, the girls are taught a valuable skill, such as sewing, that will allow them to support themselves and their children.

Kariokor is looking to take the Center to the next level and there are many, many needs starting with more permanent and expanded housing so that Mrs. Angelica can allow more than 10 girls to be cared for. There are over 100 girls that require such assistance in the village of Malindi, which is where most of these young ladies and their children live.

Once the Center reaches a level of stability, she would like to improve and expand what she offers the girls, including a more robust training center for sewing, a computer lab, suitable classrooms, and more.

Mrs. Angelica’s heart for these girls is huge! You can help them continue to succeed in these efforts. Please consider sponsoring a Kariokor resident today. Have a look at how you can help below! And thank you in advance.

Check out our visit to Neemaland in 2020, We were fortunate enough to visit with Mrs. Angelica and the young ladies in her care prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. As you can imagine, the pandemic placed quite a strain on the Center.

By God’s mercy, we have been able to visit them again since the end of the pandemic and are working to build a bigger and brighter future for all.

The needs are the same as pre-pandemic, but the urgency is greater. Your giving today will make a huge impact on their tomorrow!

How You Can Help!

The Covid-19 pandemic severely limited what Mrs. Angelica could accomplish. Like the rest of the world, as Kenya was shut down for an extended period, the young ladies that were with Mrs. Angelica could find no work and could not continue school. They were forced to return to Malindi and back to their old lives.

Now that the pandemic is over, Mrs. Angelica is rebuilding the program. It is our hope to bring 10 young ladies out of Malindi as soon as possible and give them a new start on life. All donations to the Kariokor Adult Center will be used first, to provide transport from Malindi to Nairobi and then for basic care needs.

We will be looking for partner organizations to assist in any and all efforts at the Center, but you financial contribution is huge! Thank you for donating today so a young lady from Malindi can have a brighter future tomorrow!
